Description
The Easy Elegance My Girl Rose features abundant deep pink ruffly double roses from late spring repeating through fall that have a gentle tea rose scent. The blooms are held in clusters of 5 or more atop long stems that make them excellent for cutting and display in flower arrangements and bouquets. New leaves emerge blushed red maturing to a rich green. At 4 to 5 feet tall and equally as wide, this low-maintenance rose fits nicely in smaller garden spaces, home foundation plantings and containers, or as a colorful hedge or grouping in landscape borders. Rivaling the Knock Out Roses in disease resistance and flower power, My Girl makes a dazzling color statement in any border and performs extremely well in both cool and warmer regions. Hardy in USDA Zones 4a-9b.
Landscape & Garden Uses
Growing 4 to 5 feet tall and equally wide, the My Girl Rose is ideal for use as a specimen in small garden spaces and containers or as an accent or in groupings or as a colorful hedge in landscape and flowering shrub borders. This rose is so reliable and attractive throughout the season we have no problem suggesting it for use in home foundation plantings. A fine addition to rose gardens, cottage gardens and pink theme color gardens.
Suggested Spacing: 4 feet apart for hedges; 8 feet apart for space between plants
Growing Preferences
Easy Elegance My Girl Rose is exceptionally easy to grow in a moist but well drained soil of average to high fertility and full sun to part shade. As with all other roses, morning sun is a must to dry dew from the leaves, which prevents powdery mildew. Afternoon shade or filtered sun is fine. We suggest 6 hours of direct sunlight per day for best flowering.
Maintenance is minimal. No pruning is required however in late winter or early spring the branches can be cut back to about 15-18 inches above the ground in late winter or early spring. After this hard pruning, your rose will quickly flush out and start blooming with the arrival of warmer spring temperatures. Deadheading spent flowers through the season is not necessary however will encourage new buds and flowers.
