Evey's Pride is a purple-leaved form of Mimosa Tree that is hardier and more floriferous than some other purple-leaved cultivars. Also known as the Silk Tree for its whispy spherical flowers, it is adored for its rich, pink, and large hairy spheres with nearly white centers that exude a sweet fragrance. Its large fern-like leaves emerge soft green with coppery tones that turn to dark purple-red, gradually turning to dark green. During summer, new purple-red leaves emerge for a multicolor effect. What's really neat is how the leaves close for the night and re-open in the morning. A fast grower with an upright, umbrella-shaped canopy that reaches maybe 15 to 20 feet tall and nearly as wide at maturity, Evey's Pride is a very exotic-looking tree that deserves a prominent spot in the landscape.

Growing 15 to 20 feet tall and 12 to 15 wide at maturity, the Evey's Pride Mimosa Tree is ideal for use in design as a specimen or in groupings in sunny landscape and woodland borders. We like using it around outdoor sitting and living spaces where its foliage and flowers can be enjoyed from close up and can provide some shade. A fine addition to tropical-look gardens, butterfly and hummingbird gardens, Asian and Zen gardens, and pink theme gardens.

The Evey's Pride Mimosa is very easy to grow in almost any moist but well-drained soil, from average to even poor fertility, including clay, and full to mostly sun. We suggest 6 hours or more of direct sunlight daily for best foliage color and flower production. It is moderately drought tolerant when established; however, it will perform its best in consistently moist soil but not constantly soggy or wet. No pruning is necessary, though the tree responds well to it for shaping purposes or to remove damaged or dead stems or branches.
