Description

As with all the varieties in the Fruit Snacks® Columnar Apples family, 'Blushing Delight' is easy to grow and care for due to its narrow form and size to 10 to 12 feet tall and about 3 to 5 feet wide, which makes it an ideal choice for small spaces and containers, and its cold tolerance and reliable disease resistance. As with other apples, you will need to plant two different varieties for pollination and heavy fruit set. The unique and tasty Blushing Delight Apple features loads of pretty, magenta-pink buds that open to white flowers that are followed by green apples flushed with red. The flavorful, crisp, juicy fruits have a light, sweet taste, which makes them perfect for fresh-eating right off the tree. With a stately upright form, beautiful flowers, fast growth rate, and pretty fruits, Blushing Delight is sure to be a captivating conversation piece and, as its name suggests, an edible delight as well.

Wildlife Value
The bloom pollen from apple trees is beneficial for bees as a food source in spring.

NOTE: As with all of our other plants and trees, all of our fruit plants are grown in containers outdoors so they are fully rooted and landscape-ready upon arrival.

Landscape & Garden Uses

Growing 8 to 12 feet tall and 3 to 5 feet wide with a columnar form, the Fruit Snacks Blushing Delight Columnar Apple is ideal for use as a specimen or in grouping and rows in landscape and woodland borders. Its narrower form makes it perfect for growing in containers that can be situated on or around sunny patios, decks, and other outdoor sitting and living spaces. It is also lovely for espalier (planted and trained to grow flat against a wall, and is a fine addition to bird and wildlife gardens, edible landscapes, and cottage gardens.

Suggested Spacing:  6 feet for space between trees

Growing Preferences

The Fruit Snacks Blushing Delight Columnar Apple grows best in moist, well-drained soil of average fertility and full to mostly sun; six or more hours daily for the heaviest flower and fruit production. Plant a different variety of apple tree for pollination. Established trees are drought-tolerant. Light shade is tolerated, but morning sun is a must.
