Description

A moss look-alike plant that quickly forms a low carpet of golden to chartreuse lushness, Scotch Moss is perfect for use as a groundcover in large or small garden beds or as a soil cover in containers. It looks especially nice around boulders and garden ponds or between stepping stones in garden paths, where it holds up well to moderate foot traffic. Tiny white flowers sit just above the foliage in spring to mid summer. The plant will tolerate full sun in cooler climates but appreciates afternoon shade in the warmer South. You might be happy to know the deer turn their nose up to this one!

Landscape & Garden Uses

Forming a lush golden carpet to about an inch in height, Golden Scotch Moss is ideal for use as a groundcover or between stepping stones in pathways. Also great as a soil cover in container gardens. A fine addition to rock gardens, Asian theme gardens, and white theme gardens.

Suggested Spacing:  9-12 inches apart for mass plantings

Growing Preferences

Golden Scotch Moss prefers a consistently moist but well-drained soil. It will tolerate full sun in cooler northern climates but need afternoon shade in the warmer South.
