A wonderful Asian hybrid Magnolia, 'Inspiration' is a very dense and bushy evergreen selection featuring highly fragrant flowers and handsome dark green foliage on a small tree that reaches around 15 feet tall and 10 feet wide when grown up. Exquisitely sculpted and lavishly fragrant, from mid or late spring to early summer LOADS of porcelain-white semi-double flowers of this beauty unfurl from furry, coppery colored buds that form in almost every leaf axil on the tree. The wonderful fragrance of the flowers can be smelled from 100 feet away! A stunning explosion of flowers and perfume makes Magnolia 'Inspiration' an ideal specimen growing in the ground or large containers near sunny or shady outdoor living spaces where the the pretty flowers and delicious fragrance can be enjoyed from close up. Also excellent for a dense privacy screen or hedge. To form an attractive tree, simply remove lower branches to a desired height as the plant grows.

Suggested Spacing:  6 feet apart for a solid hedge; 14 feet or more apart for space between plants

The Inspiration Magnolia is very easy to grow in most any moist but well-drained soil of average fertility. It prefers an acid to neutral soil ranging from 5.0 to 7.0 on the pH scale. It grows well in full sun or mostly shade and everything in between. We suggest at least 4 hours of direct sunlight per day for best flowering and foliage density. Very heat and humidity tolerant. We've noticed in our hot and humid north-central Georgia gardens that the foliage is darker green on plants that receive some filtered sun or shade during midafternoon hours. No pruning is necessary, however as the plant grows taller lower branches can be removed to a desired height to form a small tree.
