The branches, which chaotically twist and turn in all directions, are randomly lined with heterogenous pompom-shaped clusters of bright green needles that turn mature to dark green in summer and turn to golden-yellow in fall. Though somewhat anarchic and each plant unique in form, with some well-thought-out pruning and training, you can create a living sculpture that fits your desires. It is also highly suitable for bonsai. Depending on how you might want to shape it with pruning, it might reach 4 to 5 feet tall and wide, adding 4 to 6 inches in height and width per year on average, though, as the anarchist it is, individual branches might decide to grow up to 18 inches in a season. Incredibly cold-hardy to -50F and easy to grow in USDA Zones 2-7 and 8 in mild or cool summer climates, it prefers moist but well-drained soil of average to even poor quality soil and full sun to light shade. It is a dramatic accent and focal point in sunny landscape beds, rock gardens, and containers situated on or around porches and other outdoor sitting spaces where it is sure to captivate and be a conversation piece.

Krejci European Larch is most effective as a focal point or accent in small landscape or garden spaces. It is also suitable for pots, planters, and other containers that can be situated on or around patios and other outdoor sitting and living spaces. Wherever you plant it, be careful not to overcrowd it with other plants. It is a fine addition to an Asian themed garden or conifer or rock garden. Looks really nice around a garden pond.
