Description
A floriferous and super hardy Agastache that thrives in USDA Zones 5-10 and blooms over a long period, the flowers of 'Kudos Mandarin' are absolutely irresistible to hummingbirds, butterflies and beneficial pollinators. It has a dense habit clothed in aromatic mint-scented leaves reaching up to to 2 feet tall in bloom and 18 to 24 inches wide. From early summer to early fall it features abundant spiked clusters packed with tubular flowers in bright shades of orange. Much more compact and refined than older Agastache cultivars, Kudos Mandarin is a fine selection for smaller garden spaces and containers that can be situated on sunny patios and around other outdoor sitting spaces where the pretty flowers and hummingbirds and butterflies feeding can be enjoyed from close up.
Landscape & Garden Uses
Growing up to 2 feet tall and 18 inches wide, Kudos Mandarin Agastache is ideal for use an accent in smaller garden spaces and containers or grouped in where space allows in larger perennial borders. A fine addition to hummingbird gardens, butterfly gardens, beneficial pollinator gardens, cottage gardens, orange theme gardens,, fragrance gardens and cottage gardens.
Growing Preferences
Kudos Coral Agastache is very easy to grow in a moist but well-drained soil of average fertility and full to mostly sun for best flowering. A well-drained soil is a must as Agastache do not like wet feet, especially during the winter months. Quite drought tolerant when established though plants will appreciate supplemental water during prolonged period of summer drought. Deadheading spent flowers encourages rebloom.
