Description
While most Bee Balm varieties bloom in midsummer, those in the Leading Lady Series begin their bloom in late spring to early summer, depending on your location, and continue through midsummer. An easy-to-grow and eye-catching North American native perennial plant, the Leading Lady 'Razzberry' Bee Balm features abundant domes of intense raspberry-purple flowers filled with nectar that the hummingbirds, butterflies and beneficial pollinators will thank you for, and they're also excellent for cutting and use in fresh or dried flower arrangements. The flowers rise above an attractive mound of purple-tinted dark green mint-scented foliage often used to flavor teas. Bee Balm is not finicky about soil type but likes a consistently moist, well-drained soil with at least 5 hours of sunlight daily.
Landscape & Garden Uses
Growing 12 to 14 inches tall and 24 to 30 inches wide, Leading Lady Razberry Bee Balm is ideal for use as an accent in smaller garden spaces and containers or in groupings in perennial borders or along paths, walkways, or around patios. It is a fine addition to butterfly, hummingbird, and pollinator gardens, cut flower gardens, fragrance gardens, native gardens, red theme gardens, and cottage gardens.
Suggested Spacing: 18 to 24 inches apart for groupings; 40 or more inches apart for space between plants
Growing Preferences
LeadingLady Razzleberry Bee Balm is easy to grow in consistently moist, humusy, fertile soil. It thrives in full to mostly sun but tolerates some shade. We suggest at least 5 hours of sunlight daily, with morning sun to dry the dew from the leaves.
