Description

For those familiar with the Limelight Hydrangea the Little Lime is an amazing dwarf version. All the appeal of the Limelight but at one third to half the size. With its magnificent flower clusters, Little Lime puts on a spectacular show of color in the garden. The flowers almost completely cover the bush, emerging a bright lime-green in summer fading to a stunning pink in the fall. The flowers are great for cutting and use in fresh or dried floral arrangements.

Landscape & Garden Uses

Growing quite large to 3 to 5 feet tall and 3 to 5 feet wide, Little Lime makes an impressive specimen in small garden spaces or colorful groupings and hedges in larger spaces. Also a nice addition to mixed flowering shrub borders, as an accent in home foundation plantings, as an accent in perennial gardens, and in medium to large containers

Spacing:  3' for solid hedges; 7'+ for space between plants

Growing Preferences

Little Lime can take the heat at our location in mid-Georgia, but is also exceptionally cold hardy, withstanding even the coldest winter temperatures in the North. They are easy to grow in average, moist, well-drained soil. In the South, grows best in a location where it will receive some shade during the hottest part of the afternoon. For best flowering provide at least 6 hours of sun a day. USDA Zones: 3a-8b  Find Your Zone >

Note:  Little Lime is a Hydrangea paniculata species that produces its flowers from buds that are formed on "new wood" (the current season's growth). This means you don't want to prune them in late spring or summer when they're preparing to bloom.
