But the color show doesn't stop with the foliage. In late spring to early summer, dark sturdy stems rise above the foliage displaying loads of very pretty, bell-shaped lavender-purple flowers with white interiors. An easy-to-grow heat, humidity and drought tolerant perennial both you and the hummingbirds will enjoy!
Landscape / Garden Uses
Growing 36 to 40” tall and around 28 to 32” inches wide, the Midnight Masquerade Penstemon is ideal for use an accent or grouping in perennial gardens. Its upright growth habit serves well as a centerpiece or vertical accent in container gardens, especially when combined with other plants that have orange or yellow flowers. A fine addition to hummingbird gardens, butterfly gardens, pollinator gardens, cottage gardens and purple theme gardens.
Growing Preferences
Midnight Masquerade Penstemon is very easy to grow in a moist to dry well-drained soil and full sun to mostly sun for best foliage color and flowering. A constantly soggy or wet soil can cause root rot. Good drought tolerance when established.
