Description
A work of art, Perfectly Picasso Veronica is a hardy flowering perennial featuring long, upright spikes of paintbrush-like flowers that begin emerging in early to mid-summer and continue through late summer. The silvery white buds on the flower spikes open to medium pink flowers, giving the plant a unique and interesting bicolor look. The 8 to 10-inch vertical spikes rise above a bushy, rounded mound of healthy, rich green foliage, are excellent for cut flowers, and will surely capture the attention of butterflies and other beneficial pollinators. Perfectly Picasso combines beautifully with other summer flowering perennials such as Shasta Daisies, Coneflowers, and Black-Eyed Susans (Rudbeckia). Easy to grow in well-drained soil with six or more hours of sunlight daily, and you might be happy to know that the deer and rabbits turn their nose to it.
Landscape & Garden Uses
Growing 22 to 26 inches tall and equally as wide, Perfectly Picasso Veronica is ideal for use as a vertical accent in small garden spaces or groupings in larger spaces. It can also be grown in containers on or around patios and other outdoor sitting and living spaces where the flowers can be enjoyed from close up. It is a fine addition to butterfly and pollinator gardens, mixed perennial gardens, cut flower gardens, rock gardens, cottage gardens, and pink theme gardens.
Growing Preferences
Perfectly Picasso Veronica is easy to grow in moist, well-drained soil with average fertility and full sun to partial shade. For the best flowering and overall performance, we suggest at least 6 hours of sunlight daily. Removing spent flower spikes can encourage additional bloom. It is tolerant of short dry periods when growing in the ground but will appreciate an occasional deep soaking when temperatures are high and weather is dry. It does not like constantly soggy or wet soils.
