Description
Unique among Buddleia, commonly known as Butterfly Bush, the flower panicles of 'Pink Cascade' arch downwards, giving the 4-foot-tall and 4 to 5-foot-wide bush a distinct weeping look like a cascading fountain. Beginning mid-summer in the South and late summer in the North, the large panicles of fragrant pink flowers will surely draw in the butterflies and hummingbirds. A hardy and easy-to-grow perennial shrub, Pink Cascade puts on a long, spectacular, fireworks-like flower show in sunny flowering shrub borders and perennial gardens or as an accent in home foundation plantings.
Landscape & Garden Uses
Growing in an upright arching mound to 4 feet tall and 4 to 5 feet wide, the Pink Cascade Butterfly Bush is ideal for use as a specimen or grouped or as a hedge in sunny garden beds and flowering shrub and landscape borders. It is also a nice accent plant in home foundation plantings or around patios, porches, decks, and other outdoor sitting and living spaces where the flowers and the butterflies and hummingbirds feeding can be enjoyed from close up. A fine addition to butterfly gardens, beneficial pollinator gardens, hummingbird gardens, fragrance gardens, pink theme gardens, and cottage gardens.
Suggested Spacing: 3.5 to 4 feet apart for solid hedges or groupings; 7 feet or more for space between plants
Growing Preferences
Pink Cascade Butterfly Bush is exceptionally easy to grow in most any moist but well-drained soil of average fertility and full to mostly sun. We suggest 6 hours or more of direct sunlight per day. When established, it has good drought tolerance but does not like waterlogged soil. No pruning is necessary; however, deadheading spent flowers after the bloom encourages reblooming well into the fall.
