The most recent addition to the Feathered Friend Ajuga Series, developed by master breeder Chris Hansen, Ajuga Pleasant Peasant is a color extraordinaire. This selection forms a dense, low mound 3 to 4 inches tall and 18 inches wide with multicolor foliage in stunning shades of yellow, golden, coppery bronze, chartreuse, and green that will undoubtedly brighten up shady spots year-round! In mid-to-late spring or early summer, depending on the location, abundant spikes of cobalt-blue flowers rise just above and contrast beautifully with the foliage colors. Hummingbirds, butterflies, and other beneficial pollinators are drawn to the flowers. Easy to grow in partial to full shade, cold hardy to -30F, and drought tolerant when established, making it an excellent choice for under large shade trees and other moist to dry-shade areas in USDA Zones 4a to 9b. 

Pleasant Peasant Ajuga is easy to grow in moist, well-drained soils and part to full shade. Filtered sun or shade in the afternoon is suggested. Once established, it is moderately drought tolerant. As with many other plants, a constantly soggy or wet soil can be problematic. It is evergreen in mild winter climates and semi-deciduous to deciduous in zones with harsh winters. USDA Zones 4a-9b.
