Description
An absolute star in the late season garden, while other flowering perennials are wrapping up their summer bloom, from late summer to frost the Prince Henry Anemone sports a profusion of elegant, double flowers with deep pink petals surrounding a prominent ring of bright golden yellow stamens. The flowers, which are excellent for cutting and use in floral arrangements, form atop tall stems that sway in the slightest breeze above an attractive mound of rich, dark green leaves, hence the common name of "windflower." A little shorter than other varieties, Prince Henry reaches 18 to 20 inches tall in flower and equally as wide. It generally performs best in our north-central Georgia gardens in partial shade and a moist soil, and will spread gradually to form a patch, however will tolerate full sun and drier conditions in cooler climates. A long-lived and carefree perennial that will always have you and the butterflies looking forward to fall!
Landscape & Garden Uses
Growing 18 to 24 inches tall and equally as wide, the Prince Henry Anemone is ideal for use in sunny tp partially shaded perennial gardens and woodland borders where it will gradually spread to form a patch or a larger colony when planted in groupings. It is also excellent in mixed container gardens. A fine addition to butterfly gardens, cut flower gardens, cottage gardens and pink theme gardens.
Suggested Spacing: 18" for mass plantings

Growing Preferences
The Prince Henry Anemone is very easy to grow in most any well-drained but moist soil in full sun or part shade. It is most floriferous in full to mostly sun and a consistently damp to moist soil. That said, in hot-summer climates of the south it will appreciate some filtered sun or shade during the afternoon hours when the sun is most intense. Provide at least 4 hours of direct sun for best flowering. As with many other perennial plants, constantly soggy or wet soils can be problematic. Heavy, dense clay soils should be amended with organic matter to improve drainage.
