Description

Similar to the ever-popular 'Green Giant' but with a smaller stature of half the height and a more narrow habit, Private Jet Arborvitae is a very fast growing North American native evergreen that forms a slim pyramid 20 feet tall and only 4 to 5 feet wide at its base over time, making it a great choice for a privacy screen to block an unwanted view where space is limited. It features especially attractive soft-looking feathery fans of dark green foliage and is absolutely low-maintenance, requiring no pruning to keep its naturally dense form. As the name implies, Private Jet will quickly for a privacy screen where its larger cousins won't fit, and is also nice as a vertical accent in landscape borders or to frame the corners of homes. Easy to grow and cold hardy to -30F, it stands up to snow and wind in USDA Zones 3a to 7b.

Landscape & Garden Uses

With its upright habit and narrow conical form 15 to 20 feet tall and 4 to 5 feet wide, the Private Jet Arborvitae is ideal for use as a vertical accent in tight spaces or to frame the corners in home foundation plantings. Also perfect for a mid-height evergreen privacy screen or hedge in situations where space is limited. A fine addition to conifer gardens , formal gardens or for use as an outdoor Christmas tree in garden beds or containers.

Suggested Spacing:  3.5 feet apart for solid privacy screen or hedges; 7 feet or more apart for space between plants

Growing Preferences

Arborvitae are very easy to grow in most any moist but well-drained soil of average fertility, including clay soil, in full sun to light shade. For best performance we suggest a minimum of 5 hours direct sunlight. Constantly soggy or wet soils can be problematic. Maintenance is minimal; very little if any pruning ever required.
