Description
With some of the most unusual and interesting foliage coloration of any Heucherella, and the breeding of Heuchera villosa crossed with Tiarella, which gives it superior heat and humidity tolerance, as well as enhanced vigor, Pumpkin Spice Foamy Bells is a standout in garden beds and containers. Its attractive, maple-shaped new leaves emerge orange in the spring and mature to a coppery bronze with distinctive, deep mahogany-red veins. It forms a dense, spreading mound that is 10 inches tall and 2 feet wide, from which rise dark red stems bearing dainty, creamy-white flowers that contrast beautifully with the foliage in late spring. The flowers attract butterflies and hummingbirds and are excellent for cutting and use in small floral arrangements. Pumpkin Spice is a strong performer in both southern and northern gardens USDA Zones 4-9.
Landscape & Garden Uses
Growing in a mound to about 10 inches tall and 2 feet wide, with blooms to 15 to 18 inches tall, the Pumpkin Spice Heucherella is ideal for use as an accent in small garden beds or container gardens. It is lovely in groupings, massed as a groundcover, or as a border in garden beds and along paths and walkways. It is a fine addition to Heuchera gardens, woodland gardens, orange-themed gardens, rock gardens, cottage gardens, cut-flower gardens, and perennial shade gardens.
In garden beds or containers, we like to combine Heucherella plants with other Heuchera or Heucherella varieties, Hosta lilies, perennial ferns, and other part-shade to shade-loving plants and trees.
Suggested Spacing: 18 inches apart for mass plantings or solid borders; 36 inches or more apart for space between plants

Growing Preferences
When planted right and in the right spot, Heucherella is very easy to grow.
Sun Preference: Heucherella thrives in partially shaded to shady sites. Full Sun is tolerated in cool summer climates. However, in hot summer climates, it will appreciate filtered sun or shade during the afternoon.
Soil Preferences: Heucherella prefers a moist, well-drained soil rich in organic matter. Constantly soggy or wet soil is problematic.
Care: In the warmer climates of the southern zones, plants are often evergreen, retaining nice foliage color throughout the winter season. In colder, northern zones, foliage may discolor or die back over a harsh winter. Prune unsightly foliage away before new growth begins to emerge in late winter or early spring.
