Description
An adorable and easy-to-grow multicolor Coneflower, Echinacea 'Rainbow Sherbet' is sure to be a captivating addition to the garden. This North American native selection features deliciously fragrant, large flowers up to 4.5 inches in diameter with a skirt of drooping, overlapping petals surrounding a cute pompom of petaloids. Perched atop sturdy stems that rise above a mound of handsome dark green leaves, the flowers open in orange and golden shades, transitioning to pink and coral pink shades, with all shades simultaneously present on the same plant. The flowers are excellent for cutting and display in fresh or dried flower arrangements, and the butterflies and hummingbirds will thank you for planting this one. Rainbow Sherbet is incredibly vigorous, reaching 30 inches in height and 24 inches in width at maturity. It is perfect as an accent in smaller garden spaces and containers or groupings where space allows. It is drought, deer, heat, humidity, and poor soil tolerance. What more can we ask for?
Landscape & Garden Uses
The Rainbow Sherbet Coneflower is ideal as an accent plant in smaller garden spaces and containers, or as a group in perennial gardens and sunny woodland borders. It is a fine addition to butterfly gardens, cut flower gardens, cottage gardens, wildflower gardens, and pink-theme gardens.
Suggested Spacing: 18 inches apart for groupings; 3.5 feet apart for space between plants
Growing Preferences
Rainbow Sherbet Coneflower is highly adaptable and easy to grow. It will grow in almost any moist, well-drained soil of average fertility and full sun or partial shade. Four or more hours of sunlight daily is suggested. It is drought-tolerant when established. Spent flowers can be removed, although flowers or seed heads can be left on the plant for winter interest and to attract birds.
