Description
A truly eye-catching, rare specimen in the landscape, Rosalinda is the most vigorous and robust Indian Hawthorne available and the one's we offer are trained as an attractive, single trunk tree that is sure to draw attention. Rosalinda produces an abundance of large, showy clusters of fragrant, bright pink flowers in spring. The new foliage of Rosalinda is bright and bronze. Adult leaves are deep green and much larger in size than smaller varieties, providing a tropical look in the landscape. The canopy quickly grows (within a few years) into a rounded umbrella form to 10 feet tall and wide with no pruning necessary.
Please Note: The Majestic Beauty Hawthorne in the main photo on this page is that of a more established tree in the landscape. If planted and cared for properly, the tree you receive will grow quickly to look like the one in the photo.
Landscape & Garden Uses
Growing to 10 feet tall and wide, the Rosalinda Indian Hawthorne Tree is an ideal selection for use as a specimen, in small groupings, or in staggered or straight rows in landscape borders and home foundation plantings. Looks especially nice around garden ponds, swimming pools and other water features. Also suitable for use in large pots, planters and other containers of 18 inches or more in diameter. A fine addition to tropical-look gardens and Xeriscape gardens (low water needs).
Suggested Spacing: 12 feet or more for space between plants in groupings.
Note: For our customers who live and garden north of USDA Plant Hardiness Zone 7a, where this Indian Hawthorne is not winter hardy, you'll be happy to know it can be grown in containers that can be brought indoors during winter and placed back outside when temperatures warm up in spring.
Growing Preferences
Indian Hawthorne are very easy to grow in moist but well-drained soils of average fertility in full sun to part shade. Morning sun is a must to dry dew from the leaves. As with so many other ornamental shrubs, constantly soggy or wet soils can cause root rot and other harmful plant diseases. When established Indian Hawthorne are exceptionally drought tolerant. That said, during prolonged periods of summer drought established plants will appreciate an occasional deep soaking. Does not require pruning to maintain its naturally dense form.
