Description

A new and exceptionally heavy-blooming mophead Hydrangea, Ruby Blossom™ shows off large rounded clusters of naturally dark pink, fully double flowers that look like a bouquet of miniature double roses. The gorgeous flowers come in summer and are excellent for cutting and display in a vase or floral arrangement. The flower color is pink regardless of soil pH. With a compact, very sturdy habit and forming a mound to about 3 feet tall and wide clothed in handsome green leaves, Ruby Blossom is a good fit as an accent in smaller garden spaces, containers, and home foundation plantings or grouped or as a beautiful hedge where space allows.

Landscape & Garden Uses

Growing to about 3 feet tall and 4 feet wide, the Ruby Blossom Hydrangea is ideal for an accent plant, in groupings, or as a colorful hedge in home foundation plantings and landscape borders. It is also highly suitable for container culture and is a fine addition to cottage and cut flower gardens.

Suggested Spacing:  3 feet apart for solid hedges or borders;  6 feet or more apart for space between plants

Growing Preferences

The Ruby-Blossom Hydrangea is very easy to grow in moist but well-drained soil in sun or part shade. The plants will tolerate full sun in northern zones, but they appreciate some afternoon shade or filtered sun in hotter southern zones. For best flowering, we suggest at least 5 hours of direct sunlight per day or all day lightly filtered sun. The flowers are pink regardless of soil pH.
