Description

One of the most adored and celebrated roses of all time, this is the Climbing 'Sally Holmes' Rose, a vigorous, heat and cold hardy beauty that is sure to be a dominant presence in the garden. From late spring to mid fall she produces hydrangea-like clusters of white flowers flushed in soft-pink shades that open from apricot colored buds. Each flower has a a unique and pretty cluster of yellow stamens at the center. Vigorous and adaptable to temperature extremes, including stifling heat, resistant to pests and disease, and nearly thornless. What more can we ask from a rose? Climbing 6 to 12 feet tall depending on the height of the support structure, Sally Holmes is the perfect climber for growing on fences, arches, arbors, pergolas and other structures.

Landscape & Garden Uses

Growing vigorously 10 to 12 feet tall and 4 to feet wide, the Sally Holmes Climbing Rose is ideal for growing on fences, arches, arbors, pergolas and other structures. A fine addition to cottage gardens, white theme gardens, cutting gardens, fragrance gardens and as a background in rose gardens.

Growing Preferences

The Sally Holmes Climbing Rose is easy to grow in most any moist but well-drained soil of average or above average fertility and full sun to part shade. As with all other roses, morning sun is a must to dry dew from the leaves but some afternoon shade or filtered sun is okay. Flowering will be best if the plant receives at least 6 hours of direct sun during the day.  Has good drought tolerance when established and high disease resistance. Extremely heat tolerant to USDA Zone 10!
