Description

Very easy to grow and care for, the Snow Joey Viburnum provides year round interest in the landscape. In spring, the 6 to 8 feet tall by 4 to 6 feet wide shrub is literally smothered in delicate, aromatic, lacy white flowers clusters the butterflies will appreciate. The flowers are also excellent for cutting and use in indoor floral displays. As fall arrives the oblong green leaves turn to an attractive red and purple shades that hold well into winter. What's more, an abundant crop of bright red berries persist through winter that the birds will appreciate. You'll be happy to know we've seen no problems with pests or diseases and established plants have good drought tolerance.

Landscape & Garden Uses

Growing 6 to 8 feet tall and 4 to 6 feet wide, depending on pruning, Snow Joey Viburnum is ideal for use as an accent in home foundation plantings and landscape and flowering shrub borders. Very nice in groupings or as a colorful hedge as well. A fine addition to white theme gardens and fragrance gardens.

Suggested Spacing:  3 to 4 feet apart for solid hedges;  8 feet or more apart for space between plants

Note:  For our customers who live and garden north of USDA Plant Hardiness Zone 7a, where this Viburnum variety is not reliably winter hardy, you'll be happy to know it can be grown in containers that can be brought indoors during winter and placed back outside when temperatures warm up in spring.

Growing Preferences

Snow Joey Viburnum is very easy to grow in most any moist but well-drained soil of average fertility and full sun to part shade. As with so many other ornamental shrubs, constantly soggy or wet soil can cause problems with the roots. We suggest at least 5 hours of direct sunlight per day for best flowering and foliage density. Responds very well to pruning for shaping and size control. Prune as needed immediately after flowering.
