Description

If you like the look and cheerful color of marigolds in the garden, you're gonna love Solana Golden Sphere Coreopsis, a hardy and easy-to-grow perennial that will come back year after year providing LOADS of big, fully double, pompom shaped bright golden yellow flowers. A showy and long-lasting blast of color for sunny garden beds or containers, the flowers rise just above lush mounds of deep green foliage from spring to fall, even in hot and humid climates. The flowers attract butterflies and are good for cutting and use in floral arrangements. Cold hardy to -15 degrees F and deer and rabbit resistant.

Landscape & Garden Uses

Growing 10 to 12 inches tall and maybe 18 inches wide, Solanna Golden Sphere Coreopsis is ideal for use as an accent in small spaces or as a solo or accent in pots, planters and other containers. In larger garden spaces it is great for groupings or as a border along sunny paths and walkways or around patios. A fine addition to butterfly gardens, native gardens, pollinator gardens, cottage gardens, yellow theme gardens, perennial gardens and wildlife gardens.

Suggested Spacing:  12-15" for mass plantings; 30 inches for space between plants

Growing Preferences

Solanna Golden Sphere Coreopsis is very easy to grow in most any moist but well-drained soil of average fertility and full to mostly sun. That said, it will tolerate a little shade or filtered sun and is moderately drought tolerant when established. For best flowering and density of foliage we suggest at least 7 hours of direct sunlight per day. Morning sun is a must to dry dew from the leaves. Constantly soggy or wet soils can be problematic. Heavy, dense clay soils should be amended with bagged top soil or other organic matter to improve drainage. Spent flowers can be deadheaded after the first bloom cycle to encourage a heavier late summer to fall bloom cycle.
