Summer Wine Black Ninebark (Physocarpus) - 3 Gallon Pot
Description
Spacing: 4.5' for hedges, 10'+ for space between plants
As its name suggests, Summer Wine Black has the darkest foliage yet of any Physocarpus: near black! The new leaves are a blazing-red color. A super-tough, easy-care, and fast-growing cross hybrid of our native species, Summer Wine Black features upright branching with a rounded habit, 5 to 6 feet tall and equally as wide. In late spring to early summer, abundant domed clusters of contrasting creamy white flowers appear that are followed by inflated burgundy-red seed heads. Layers of peeling red-brown bark on the branches and stems, hence the name "ninebark," take the stage during the winter months. A trouble-free, alluring, and dramatic beauty that deserves a spot in every landscape where it will grow. USDA Zones 3a-7b. Cold hardy to -40F!
