Sure to be a very popular selection among landscape architects as a focal point specimen, grouping or row in sunny landscape borders or accent tree in home foundation plantings and around patios and other outdoor sitting and living spaces.
Landscape & Garden Uses
Growing up to 20 feet tall and 12 to 15 feet wide, the Thunderstruck Lavender Blast Crape Myrtle is ideal for use as a focal point specimen in smaller spaces and home foundation plantings or in groupings or rows where space allows in sunny landscape borders. Very nice around around patios and other outdoor sitting and living spaces. A fine addition to black or purple gardens.
Suggested Spacing: 8 feet apart for screens; 16 feet or more apart for space between trees
Growing Preferences
The Thunderstruck lavender Blast Crape Myrtle is very easy to grow. It is not picky about soil type provided the soil is well-drained. A moist but well-drained soil of average fertility is preferred. Full sun is preferred and results in heavier flower production. Light shade is tolerated but flowering will be diminished in more shade. Has shown excellent resistance to powdery mildew and is quite drought tolerant when established.
