Description

The first Ajuga with never-seen-before large gold leaves...and they're screaming yellow! 'Tropical Toucan' is a vigorous grower with puckered brilliant yellow leaves that light up shady to partially shaded areas of the garden. What's more, spikes loaded with cobalt-blue flowers rise above and are a striking contrast with the brilliant foliage. Plant grow to a height of 4 to 6 inches and spread relatively quickly to for a glowing patch of 24 inches wide. You might be happy to know that the rabbits turn their nose up to this one.

Tropical Toucan is one among the new Feathered Friends Ajuga Series of colorful Ajuga hybrids.

Landscape & Garden Uses

Growing Preferences

When planted right and in the right spot, Ajuga is easy to grow. It adapts to most soil types and likes shade to part shade. Morning sun or all day filtered sun is fine. It prefers a moist but well-drained soil of average fertility. Overly dry soils will require supplemental irrigation. As with many other plants, a constantly soggy or wet soil can be problematic.
