Description

Pinus flexilis 'Glauca Reflexa' is a stunningly beautiful selection of our North American native Limber Pine featuring soft, thick, long, bright powdery blue needles year-round on flexible, pendulous branches. Adding 6 to 8 inches in size per year, it might reach 15 to 20 feet in height and 8 to 12 feet wide at its base when all grown up. Though native to the western U.S., it will adapt well to East Coast gardens 7b and further north. It is easy to grow and highly resistant to disease and drought when established. Sure to be a standout in the landscape that brings a calm, soothing feeling during the warmer times of year.

Landscape & Garden Uses

Growing 15 to 20 feet tall and 8 to 12 feet wide at its base, the Weeping Blue Limber Pine is ideal for use as a focal point specimen in landscape borders or to frame the corners in home foundation plantings and other structures. It is a fine addition to native gardens, Asian gardens, Zen gardens, conifer gardens, blue gardens, and wildlife gardens.

Suggested Spacing:  15 or more feet apart for space between trees

Growing Preferences

The Weeping Blue Limber Pine is easy to grow in most soils that are moist but well-drained. It has good drought tolerance when established. It prefers full sun but will tolerate some light afternoon shade. Constantly soggy soil can cause problems with the roots.
