Description

White Mazus is an attractive, low growing and spreading, perennial groundcover plant perfect for use between stepping stones in pathways or for a carpet-like groundcover where the soil stays consistently moist to wet. The plant spreads by creeping stems which root at the nodes as they go. The narrow bright green leaves form an attractive, dense carpet only 2-inches tall that becomes nearly covered in late spring to early summer with tubular, 2-lipped white flowers with bright golden-yellow markings on the tongue. The foliage is evergreen in USDA Zones 7 and 8 and deciduous further north. Very nice around garden ponds!

Landscape & Garden Uses

Growing to only 2 inches tall and 2 feet or more in spread, Mazus is ideal for use as a groundcover or filler plant in those areas of the landscape or gardens where the soil stays consistently moist to wet. it grows well in pots in our garden pond! Perfect for use between widely-spaced stepping stones. It tolerates wet soils so we even have it growing in pots situated in the margins of our garden pond. A fine addition to bog gardens, rain gardens, blue color theme gardens, and Asian theme gardens.

Suggested Spacing:  18 to 24 inches apart for mass plantings
