An outstanding Ackerman Hybrid, Winter's Cupid is a cold hardy Camellia surviving winters as far north as USDA Hardiness Zone 6a! Abundant semi-double flowers have snow white flowers surrounding a tuft of contrasting golden yellow stamens over an 8 week period in late fall to early winter. Lustrous dark green foliage provides the perfect backdrop for the flowers which are excellent for cutting and displaying in your favorite vase. At 6 to 8 feet tall and 4 to 6 feet wide, Winter's Cupid is a good fit for small to medium size gardens or as espalier or a corner plant in home foundation plants.

Growing 6 to 8 feet tall and 4 to 6 feet wide, Winter's Cupid Camellia can be grown as a shrub or small tree. As a shrub it is ideal for use as a specimen in small to mid-size garden spaces or in groupings, or hedge or background plant in larger landscape borders. It is especially nice as a corner plant or espalier (trained to grow flat against a wall) in home foundation plantings. As this camellia grows taller lower branches can be removed to form a highly attractive small evergreen tree that serves well as a colorful specimen in landscape borders and home foundation plantings. A fine addition to camellia gardens, white theme gardens, cottage gardens, cut flower gardens and woodland borders. Also suitable for containers.

Spacing:  4 feet apart for solid hedge; 8 feet or more apart for space between plants

Camellia adapt well to various soil types however prefer a moist but well-drained acidic soil that is rich in organic matter. Constantly soggy soil is a slow killer. In general, Camellia grows and blooms better in partial shade with some shelter from the hot afternoon sun. Morning sun with afternoon shade or filtered sunlight is perfect. All-day filtered sun is fine.
