Description
One of our favorite perennial flowering groundcovers, Yellow Archangel is one we've used extensively in shady woodland areas of the garden where it spreads quickly to form a soft-textured variegated silvery-white and green leaves carpet of lush foliage. In spring, upright new stems hold cute, tubular, two-lipped yellow flowers that the butterflies and early bumble bees appreciate. But don't let its pretty looks fool you...this is one tough and durable long-lived plant. The leaves are evergreen in warmer climates and semi-deciduous to deciduous in colder climates north of zone 7.
Landscape & Garden Uses
Growing 6 to 10 inches tall and spreading 3 feet or more, Yellow Archangel is ideal for use as a groundcover in shade and woodland gardens where perennials plants such as hosta lilies and ferns will pop right through it. Also a nice accent and spiller plant for large, combination container gardens. Also nice as a border along paths and walkways and perfect for growing under large shade trees.
Suggested Spacing: 24 to 36 inches apart for mass plantings and solid borders

Growing Preferences
Yellow Archangel Lamium is very easy to grow in most any most but well-drained soil of average fertility and part shade. Established plants are very drought tolerant. As with many other perennial plants, a constantly soggy or wet soil can be problematic. It's soft stems make it very easy to clip and keep in bounds.
